Starting my business part three

Walking into my dream for the first time.

Now to the part you all came here for, how did I start my business?

After the ink was dry on the contract, I didn’t waste any time. I hit the ground running. I first hired a videographer to film the entire process. We met up at starbucks and discussed my vision. After we agreed to everything and I paid him half up front, we started breaking off panels and ripping out fixtures immediately. The initial tear down on day one is always my favorite part. Its the day that all your dreams are possible,… and then reality sets in day two and you realize you are in over your head a little bit. That hit as soon as I saw all the glue on the walls. The amount of time scraping should be illegal. Thank God Teddy and Connor were there to help me with that part.

The entry way before the renovation.

After all the glue was gone, I really got to start all my great ideas. I was gonna have dry wall through out and it was gonna be a upscale New York type vibe. Well that went out the window real quick when I realized I cant put dry wall over the tile that was all over the walls. Half way through demo I had to change my entire plan. It has ended up with a coastal vibe and I am loving it.

The tile on the walls before.

How are you paying for all this?

Well I am fortunate enough to have gotten half of the house profit that my ex and I had sold. I know not everyone is that fortunate, so I will tell you that the first Salon that I renovated was all out of pocket, I would get my money from doing hair that day and directly put it right into the salon reno. I had family and friends that help me tremendously on that project and so I learned a lot about renovation. I had more money for this project, but I had to do 80% of the work myself. Everyone was working themselves and didn’t have a lot of time to devote but definitely helped me as often as they could. My advice is to just go for it. I feel like the money and help shows up when you need it to. Prayer is a powerful thing.

I did a lot of praying and building my foundation on the Lord. I really took a huge leap of faith, since I hardly had any clients. I am truly grateful for what he has done in this project. I give full credit to him.

The Lord wants us to prepare for what we want. If we sit around and just think about it, it likely wont happen, however if we prepare by doing everything we can, while we wait for the Lord. Who do you think he is more likely to bless? My bet is on the one who is prepared to receive and that is what I try to do in my life. I am not afraid to take risks, because I know that Gods got my back, no matter what happens.

If a person waits for perfect weather, he will never plant his seeds. And if he is afraid that every cloud will bring rain, he will never harvest his crops.
— Ecclesiastes 11: 4-6

I would challenge you to do the same. Take that leap of faith and start the project you have been wanting to start. The worst thing that can happen is failure, and we are back to square one, but I believe we are already failing if we never start.

I am almost finished with this reno. Truth is I would have been done already but I lost motivation on the last stretch. I was tired, doing this all on my own. Its a whole different experience when you don’t constantly have someone there with you helping. You fully have to rely on yourself for that. I only have about a days worth of work left. The biggest thing is finishing the trim. That’s pretty easy. I just have to get up and do it. That’s a great picture about life. Sometimes you have to push past the lack of motivation and keep going, Push yourself past what you thought you were capable of. Easier said then done. I know. It is possible, All things are possible with God.

Here’s a little peak. I cant wait to post the transformation for you to see. If you are excited to see everything before than you can come on down to the shop. Stop in and say hi. I would love to meet you all and show you what God has done in my life. I am always willing to give him the credit he deserves. I hope this has inspired someone to follow their dream. Thanks for making it this far.

Till next time…
