What hair style will fit my face shape?
We all wonder what the best hair style is for our face? Lets start out by naming all the different face shapes shall we. There are five; Heart, Oval, Square, Oblong and Round. If you know your face shape already then you can scroll down to your shape and read on, if you are not sure then you can set up a free consultation with me and we can go over it together. If you would like to try and figure it out on your own a great way to figure it out at home is to go to your bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker and stare at your face in the mirror, draw the outline of your face. step back once your done and that is your face shape.

For this face shape you really want to try to avoid having long hair, this is really going to draw attention to the length of your face and we want to create a little balance and symmetry. I would recommend a shorter haircut or even going with a nice bang to really create that nice balance. Try curling your hair if you do want to keep it long to create more width on the sides of the face. Good volume is key to create that illusion.

If you are one of the lucky people to have an oval shape to your face then congratulations! You can pretty much wear whatever hair you desire. I think that the key here is picking the perfect color and cut for the texture and thickness of your hair so that it becomes easier for you to style. Just because you can wear anything doesn’t mean that you will love everything you try.

For the more square shape, you have a couple options depending on if you would like to make your shape more prominent or if you would like to soften it. If you would like to draw attention to the beautiful square shape then you could go for a bold bang or have a nice bob that is little shorter that will draw attention to your jaw line. If you prefer to soften that jaw line than I would consider a more soft bang, maybe a side bang, that will draw attention to your cheek bones, as well as going for more of a long haircut that will add a little length to your face. Straitening your hair or a nice soft wave will also create a softer look to your shape.

I have found that the shorter hair, somewhere around the shoulder area length looks best for this face shape. A really nice side bang draws attention away from the widows peak that usually accompanies this particular shape, so your gonna want to avoid a center part. Adding some nice soft waves or nice curls will soften the width of your cheek bones, and you will want to having those short, blunt bangs because it will draw attention to your more narrow chin.
-
Lastly we have the round face, if you would like to create the appearance of a more narrow face, short hair is best. I love a great bob on the more round face. Try not to have a lot of hair around your face because it tends to draw more attention to the width of your face rather than soften it. You could also try out that awesome bold bang you have been wanting to do, but have been to scared to try.
Take everything I tell you with a grain of salt. All of these suggestions do not take in to account personality. And personality has everything to do with the style you choose. This is not a one size fits all thing, that is why back in high school we all had about 15 different hair styles. Play around and find what style fits your personality. We are all unique and our hair helps us to express that. So come on in, set up a consultation and we will discuss all these things and more for your perfect style. Thanks for reading along, have a great day.
HAIR TIP OF THE DAY
HAIR TIP OF THE DAY
Do you ever get little fly on the top of your head or around your bang area, and the only way you feel to get rid of them is to cake your hair in hairspray? If you take an old or new toothbrush and spray the hairspray onto the toothbrush first then brush it onto the desired spots, you will no longer have fly aways or caked on hairspray. Hair hack for ya.
